HOMEBOY

No gang rule in Chinatown La, that makes it a good location for a project
that is trying to help gangmembers
away from the gang life. The Homeboy Industries runs a restaurant/café,
a bakery, offers education and jobtraining. I went there to eat tacos

every now and then, and started to photograph people in the project. The first time I came to eat at the Homegirl Café I was served by Stephanie. She joined the gang Crips when she was eleven, her parents were members as well. Stephanie has been shot in the

hands and the back, and she probably has worse experiences than that. Early the day when I was suppose to photograph her, she sent me a text message from the hospital, saying that her homegirl just got shot and died, and she didnt feel like takeing any photos that day.
